Sometimes, my friends don't understand why I seem so tired of the whole thing, by which I mean the ongoing struggle to present some relatable, sane form of religion to the world. That's when I show them stories like this one, which make me want to turn my back altogether.

Thankfully, the proposed rule was rejected, but that's hardly cause for celebration. It never should have come up.

Seriously, sometimes I just sit and wait for every Christian over 70 to die or give up, so things can move on. I can't take this crap much longer.

Is it a Catholic school? I thought only Catholics were against divorce.

No, OC is affiliated with the Churches of Christ. It's a denomination that claims it isn't a denomination, and it's often found in the South and Southwest. Possible slogans include:

The Churches of Christ: Friendly to Black People Since at Least the Mid-'70s

The Churches of Christ: More Rules Than You'd Think

The Churches of Christ: Put Down That Guitar, Pagan

One of my best friends went to OC, and in the middle of her sophomore year one of her professors began stalking her. He would send her flowers, call all the time and follow her everywhere. It got so bad she had to have her male friends walk her from class to chapel to her dorm every day. The worst part is this guy was married and when my friend confronted his wife about it, she was in complete denial, promising my friend that her husband was just concerned about her well-being. I think he eventually got fired but remained married. I don't want to presume anything about that couple, but I wonder what compells some to stay in denial and married in these types of situations. My mom was shunned by some members of The Church when she divorced my dad, but it was ultimately the better decision for our family. Why can't some Christians just leave it at that?

Okay, don't burn me on any stakes or anything but I have something to say...
I grew up in a perfectly balanced/ reasonable Church of Christ. We were even on the traditional side of the spectrum. True, there were no guitars on Sunday, but other times were a different story. Actually, two, no three, of the CofCs that my famly attended were like that. Then there was one-I won't say where- but I couldn't believe that Denton housed such straight laced die hards. I don't attend a Church of Christ now because I didn't agree with their beliefs on baptism, and because I was getting a little bored with an idle church. OCU isn't a proper example of every Church of Christ... not even most I'd say. My, I did go on... all that to say- I would not point the proverbial finger at the denomination (or lack of/ whatever), but at the judging heart of the person. Even then, I would hesitate... what does pointing really do? Okay, I'm done. Expatriate me if you will.

I think we should start a webpage that campaigns for the death of every Christian who doesn't believe exactly the tenents of religion that we do (especially the one's who have been around a long time and have outdated ideas).

That will bring some harmony to the Christianity that is so currently discordious.

I don't know why I am no longer allowed a place in church leadership when my ideas are so brilliant.
